The sax quartet Ateneo Musical del Puerto started in this centenary musical society of the city of Valencia in 1991. This was a new activity in the musical society. Its components are active members of the music band of the Ateneo Musical del Puerto.

The formation is a classic one: Soprano saxophone, Alto saxophone, Tenor saxophone and Baritone saxophone. The invention of the saxophone was at the end of XIX century which influences in the score repertoire, that contains classical compositions and original compositions for saxophone quartet. Its repertoire is composed of scores from the Baroque period up until today.

The sax quartet Ateneo Musical del Puerto's first performance was the 17th of October 1991 at the opening of the celebrations in the parish of Nuestra Señora del Rosario. The quartet have gone on to play in several venues: café concerts, Music Palace, musical societies, the cycle of concerts in the Quiron clinic, pharmaceutical college of Valencia, the opening of the sailor easter of Valencia, prize-giving of the GEA foundation, the cycle of concerts of the Chulilla spa, etc...

• Tenor sax: Jesús Rozalén de la Torre
• Baritone sax: Francisco Llorca María

Amparo Braulio, Carmen Tudón, Salvador Escudero, Salvador Bolón, Lorena Fayos and María Belenguer were also components of this group in the past.
